3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheeler is ideal for off-road walking & tackling terrain, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also easier to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than 4-wheel models.
MadeForMums reviews editor Kath tried one of these 3-wheelers with her newborn and 3 year old daughter, putting it through its paces on the asphalt and on the muddy ground. Check out her review here.
Stability
With four wheels and a center of gravity that's balanced by the weight of your child in the seat, buggies with four wheels are generally thought to be more stable than 3-wheelers. However, that doesn't mean an older model with three wheels isn't worth a look, since some of these models are made to withstand everything from rough terrain to bustling high-streets.
Find a buggie with large rear wheels, as well as a lockable wheel on the front. This makes it easier to drive and less likely to break apart when you're on bumpy roads. These buggies are typically equipped with pneumatic tyres too, which are ideal for handling surfaces that aren't paved and can be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.
They are also the best buggies for jogging with, as they provide excellent stability on rough terrain and help you keep pace with your running partner. They're also excellent at climbing and down steep kerbs, and most of them come with a suspension built in that means your baby will enjoy a comfortable ride.
A stroller with 3 wheels can be a challenge to maneuver because of its large frame. It can be more difficult to get through narrow spaces and doorways than a 4-wheeler. However certain manufacturers have addressed this issue by implementing an innovative design that makes the wheels flip up when not being used, which reduces their overall size and allows you get through doors with ease.
You'll also have to think about whether your buggy is suitable for your baby from birth, or if you're thinking of using it with an infant car seat or carry cot. Make sure that the buggy has a lie-flat feature and if it is compatible with second seat and buggy boards if you plan to bring a toddler along. A lot of 3-wheelers fold flat, and later be stacked upright. This is a good option for those with an unwieldy boot space or limited storage at home. Some 3-wheelers require you to remove the front wheel in order to fold them into smaller spaces.
Manoeuvrability
Three-wheeled buggies are more movable than four-wheeled strollers. They typically have a swivelling front wheel that lets you change direction quickly and steer using only one hand. Some models have locks on the wheel to offer stability on rough terrain. Some models can be used with an additional seat or buggy board in case you're planning to increase the size of your family.
If you intend to take your three-wheeled buggies off the roads that are asphalted, you should choose an option that has pneumatic tyres. three wheel pushchair can handle even the most difficult terrain. These tyres may need to be filled from time to intervals, but they'll be more durable and puncture-proof compared to solid tyres. Find a model with a the ability to lock the swivelling wheel on the front to assist you in maneuvering difficult surfaces.
A single front wheel could indicate that three-wheelers can be more bulkier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Check to see if the model you're considering can fit in the boot of your car and can be sat up if needed. Some models fold with one hand and can be raised when folded. This can save space in a small car boot.
A quality 3 wheel pushchair can cope with any terrain, from busy main streets to woodland tracks. It is important to consider the way you'll use it every day. If you will be making the school run with it, it should be able handle steep slopes and kerbs. If you'll be running with it, ensure it has a lockable swivelling'stretch' front wheel to ensure that the ride is stable.
Kath, a MFM reviewer, discovered that her stroller with three wheels was able to take on urban and walks in the countryside. She said it could navigate rocky paths, cobbles and uneven pavements effortlessly and felt pleasant when running. It's also a great option for day trips, as it comes with plenty of storage space, including a large, spacious basket with zip-top cover as well as an extendable 50+ UV hood. It can be adapted to meet the needs of babies starting at birth, using an infant carry cot or a lying-flat seats. It's also compatible with the most popular stroller seats and second seats.
Fabric Sling Seat
The primary distinction between a fabric seat and a modular one is the fabric sling. It is placed inside the frame of the buggy, rather than being positioned on top of it like an adjustable chair. This enables a much more ergonomically-correct posture for the baby that instantly gives an lower centre of gravity that is at the proper height. This in turn makes for an easier push, a lighter curb pop (you do not require much effort or weight to push the buggy over the nose of a curb) and a better balance and stability.
The sling fabric used in these kinds of buggy seats are also extremely durable and easy to clean. These fabrics were specifically designed for the sling chair and are UV-resistant and breathable. They also have an excellent durability and are easy to clean using mild soap and water.

3-wheel buggies are especially suitable for off-road or all terrain adventures since they offer more stability than strollers with four wheels. The large, highly manoeuvrable front wheel allows for agile and smooth movement, whereas the tyres are generally air-filled and feature suspension, which gives you a great ride on the roughest roads and trails. The wheels are not as close to the ground on these pushchairs as they are with four wheeled pushchairs. This makes them perfect for walking uphill.
Often 3-wheel prams are favorite for parents who love running and jogging with their child, as they provide excellent mobility and are much more sleek than their 4-wheel counterparts.
